What an incredible woman Ruth is!! The entire time, I was in awe of her strength and honesty in sharing her story. There were so many takeaways and insights I took away about addiction in general, in particular, its connection to avoidance and escapism. There is always a story behind the story. I was fascinated by her explanation on how understanding addiction requires exploring its core origins and how it developed from within. Uncovering these hidden reasons then provides insight into the steps you can take toward recovery. Her sharing her personal journey with porn addiction also shed light on the the impact addiction has on the mind and the internal struggles individuals face daily.
I also valued her emphasise on the importance of learning to process our emotions, ideally around the time of the event something upsets you. Additionally, I particularly liked her final message on speaking up and seeking help when struggling, and treating people who confide in us about their struggles with grace. This was a very good episode, as always. I'll have to relisten to the episode and possibly take some notes. Ruth is doing amazing work. I love her goal with her book in bridging the gap between those who struggle with addiction and those who do not. I'll be purchasing the book and look forward to reading it. Thanks once again, Jules and Sharon, for creating a safe space and platform to allow such conversations to be spoken and heard around the world. 💖💖

I enjoyed this video so much that I actually relate to everything that was said or rather discussed on the table , I found this podcast on Friday and I had to watch this , i am someone who used to be addicted to pornography and explicit videos for many years , and I found my myself not being unable to survive wuthout masturb&tion almost every single day meanwhile watching explicit videos . I am 6months sober or clean without watching or doing any sort of pornography . My life is so much at peace I am no longer depressed and over the place like I was , yes I feel like repenting sometimes but I refuse to go back into that environment .

This needs to be talked about more, so many people are suffering silently because you really can't tell physically. Was also interesting to learn that digging deep will make the connection to the addiction. Eye opening conversation guys 👏

I come to realization that porn could be an issue needing addressing after bumping into porn content in my "close" people phones& laptop. At first, it didn't hit me until one person that always inthe Frontline why do people watch, I can't do such or stand porn watcher....only for me to realize this same person have been a consumer for the last 13-14years...8GB porn content only...I was shocked & kind felt sorry at the same time.this person is a phone addict, love 'this space', can stay back in the vehicle at the parking lot and sometimes goes with phone to shower....I am concerned this person is addicted but I can't even help coz I don't know how people go around that.I saw another young lady watching in mat....Aki..I don't think it's a healthy habit to even start...thanks for this open conversation.I t takes a courageous person to share their experience.

1 early exposure of porn is one way where porn becomes addictive.. because it activates certain parts of Ur mind and shuts off bad emotions..as u grow u often to learn how to handle bad emotions by crying, fighting, wallowing, complaining talking with friends playing... so that when u get exposed to porn at an older age U have already learned how to deal with negative emotions...but when Ur young when Ur parents fight divorce U cry about it talk about yell about it....if U have been exposed to porn U go to porn to stop those bad feelings when you get a bad job the day u become stressed about it u find solace in porn..if Ur in a relationship and Ur partner is mad U feel bad U go back to porn..so the best thing about this addiction is that it can be a sign of things are not good and u need to fix it... in her case it seems she started having a serious problem with it in highschool mostly because when other girls are also struggling with puberty they are complaining crying using drama using sports etc but she had a secret weapon which was porn it shuts off those bad emotions instantly but she was lucky to have a counsellor to help her...Kenyan highschool are extra stressful

I think pornography highly objectifies women/females (well ,speaking from when it didnt have so many variations gender-wise) it also creates a falsehood of what sex was created to be like, be for and takes away the sacredness of it all.

Sometimes talking about other people ( even negatively) is not always from a bad place ... sometimes people just need places to vent ...
If I'm talking to someone about something that my friend did and it hurt me, i don't think that's bad, coz I'm just looking for a place to vent and talk about how that thing or that friend hurt me...
    Of course without malicious intent

It’s okay to vent, but imagine venting about your closet people without them even knowing what’s going on in your life. What is friendship nowadays??? So hard to trust. And once they mess your image they will never clean your name!!! Sending love to everyone ❤❤❤
